About Me

I’m Frankie Laursen, a stay-at-home mom, a runner, and a voracious reader. I write about parenting while living with anxiety and depression. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, two kids (Kaylee, 4, and Zach, 7), our dog Maggie, and our cat Smokey.

I started this blog after seeing The Bloggess at a book signing. She mentioned having trouble doing the recording for her audiobook, and emailing author Neil Gaiman for suggestions. He told her to “pretend you’re good at it.”

I created this blog to be a place for people to:

  • read about other people’s experience living with depression and anxiety
  • share their own experiences and stories
  • find resources for getting help
  • realize or be reminded that we don’t have to hide our struggles
  • be reminded that we don’t have to be “perfect” moms, wives, daughters, etc.
  • have a laugh now and then, even if it’s usually at my expense

I am on a journey to better myself and at the same time to accept myself exactly as I am. I hope you’ll join me with your comments, your stories, your jokes, and your sorrow.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Thank you so much! I doubt myself every week wondering why I keep writing this blog when some days I have literally 0 page views. But comments like yours keep me going. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

Wonderful that you started a blog about this. I’m trying to start one to help pass the time. I struggle with a type of Bipolar disorder and am pregnant with my 2nd child plus I’m an Army wife. It’s nice to know there are other people out there. It gives you comfort and hope. 🙂

Thank you so much for your comment. What is the URL of your blog? I clicked on your name, but it took me to a Google+ account that is not public. I hope your pregnancy is going well and that you have a lot of support.

Frankie, I struggle with these same feelings. I continue to try and seek a connection to God despite my nagging doubt. I’m also a mom – who struggles with anxiety and bipolar disorder. Thank you for this post. Thank you for this blog.
